Phillip Kotsanis

Phillip Kotsanis has practised law in Australia since his admission as a Solicitor in 1993. He specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution.

He understands that for clients, retaining a lawyer is a significant step, often after a prolonged attempt to resolve a dispute themselves. His approach is to understand the dispute and the outcome the client seeks, and then to pursue that outcome efficiently and strategically, either with full client involvement or minimal involvement depending on the client’s needs and the case. He provides clear and transparent advice about the strengths of a case, the likely costs involved, and the level of client input required throughout the process.

Phillip has acted in disputes of all sizes, from smaller matters of great personal importance to clients, to large scale and complex litigation where he has managed substantial teams in trials and appeals across a range of jurisdictions in Australia.

He is an early adopter of technology and is closely following the development of artificial intelligence as a resource for lawyers and clients. He welcomes clients using AI to better understand their legal issues, but he is equally comfortable taking full responsibility for managing a client’s legal problem and shielding them from the time and energy involved in dealing with it.

Phillip is friendly, polite, and considerate. He is known for listening carefully to clients and other lawyers, while also being able to quickly identify practical solutions to legal problems and work tirelessly to implement them.

Outside legal practice, Phillip enjoys stepping away from the structure of the law to pursue high-adrenaline sports including keeping up with a young daughter. He maintains balance through staying mentally and physically fit.
